So I can't seem to find anything specific on these silver boxes but I did find that C.P.Clark & Co made mercury wetted relays I just can't match up any product numbers. So unless someone can help me positively identify these as non-mercury I'm going to not mess with these few boards. Boardsort replied to an earlier post that had these boards and didn't say anything about the relays so I don't know if that was an oversight or if they're not mercury.

There are three different modules but mostly it's the ones with blue text. I tried to get multiple angles to get all the info on the boxes and also the info on the boards themselves, which I can date to 1978 at least.

Thanks in advance

I found this....

bunkerofdoom.com/relay/pb/index/html

There are numerous relays that look like yours and going from the schematic off the side of one of your relays, does not match up with the schematic of their wetted mercury relays.

There are several pages of the various AMF Potter & Brumfield brochure at that web address I posted. Did not look thru them all though. Could not find the exact p/n from your relays in there, but the shape and size is close to their standard electromagnetic relays of the day.

At least it’s a tool for future use if anything else.

By the way.

If you are able to confirm those relays are indeed just a standard electromagnetic relay. And are certain they are not wetted mercury relays.

I did check the materials used to make the contact patches on their standard electromagnetic relays. It’s either gold over silver, gold sputter over silver, or palladium. This information is easily found in those archived AMF Potter & Brumfield brochures I sent you the link for.

Again, only if you can confirm they are not wetted mercury relays.

Based on Rustyfury reply, I will admit that Meowpher 1-8 had enough curiosity to pop one of those boxes off when he encountered them. Most turn out to be just standard relays, but don't take Meowpher the eighth's word for it. And, back thirty years ago, I had a buyer for the glass switches with mercury glob inside.

Thanks, Rusty I'll see if I can look through that also. I haven't acquired these yet and don't want to until I've got a better idea what I'm looking at.

Meowpher, I salute the courage of 1-8 and any sacrifices they made for the rest of us! :D

So somehow I missed that it's C.P. Clare and not Clark.

I had also overlooked the manufacturer name on the plastic pull tab, it's Vero Electronics LTD. Founded 1961 in the UK. (Finding some interesting info here but not helpful to my mercury or not question)

Unfortunately it seems Vero is also a common breadboard so my searches for the boards I have isn't getting anywhere, so far.

Yeah, sometimes no matter how much information you glean from something. It’s old enough or obscure enough, the who, what and where of it just never makes it on to, er, in to the interwebs.

And those instances where you’re fortunate enough to run into the old timer who actually worked with said product, is, well, pretty rare indeed.

I’m a sucker for the old stuff. Too bad those boards were left in an environment that wasn’t controlled. Prolly get more info off the lil silver looking relay boxes, not that it would help much, but info is always good nonetheless!

Best of luck to you!

They’re likely medical diagnostic device boards.
Though there some use in military and reactor sectors too.

At least some of the relays are mercury.

I found an echo board that had matching components and was able to finally cache the manual to open it (how far we’ve come since dialup).

Okay, so I'll just let the people who have them know there's mercury and wash my hands of them :)

Thank you so much Lost!

You could probably pull out the socketed IC chips from them, they shouldn't have mercury.
