I am thinking Low Grade Telecom?!? If not then def. High peripheral. I am unsure so I ask. (all pics are from the same board)

I could be wrong but as long as that transformer is on the board I don't think there's any chance of high peripheral. But again, I could be wrong. I'd remove that and the few aluminum heatsinks and you can probably get low telco.

My question is, although there are a lot of diodes and miniaturized components, all the components are miniaturized, which means less precious metal?

Quantity makes up for the size. Also these boards are loaded with palladium in the form of MLCC's.

I agree with marked141. If you removed the transformer and the heatsinks, you're probably safe with Low Grade Telecom.

I appreciate the extra comments and explanations of what adds or subtracts from a boards value. And, every now and then I need to reread some of the older posts on knocking off ferrite "torsion motors"? oversized capacitors, etc, and although the older thru-hole boards are not that common, it helps to refresh what keeps them out of low grade with their bulky components.

No problem! Just remember to weigh the processing time vs the boards value as is. If you have the time, it's usually worth it to process, if you've got hundreds of pounds to get through by yourself every week you may need to pick and choose on some of it.
