So in this picture are the Cell Phone Boards of iPhone 8s. I'm planning on sending these under the Cell Phone Category. The black cover on the right covers up silver casing. I can remove the black covers, but cannot remove the silver casing. One of these casings is where the SIM card was located. Thoughts?

Also in the picture are the phone cameras... what category would those fall under, if any?

Just a little FYI, try to take good pics under good lighting. If the guys making the determinations can't see the individual components it makes it that much harder to grade. Thank you, MAL. :)

Maybe this'll be better. My concern are the silver casings. Not easily removed sicne they seem to be part of the board, but I can if absolutely necessary.

My method for getting any shields is take a pair of wire snips and pinch the corner (this might take a couple of tries), pry the corner up a bit, grab the corner, and twist the shield up like opening a sardine can. This method works for almost all shields like these ones, even soldered ones. I have removed a fair number of soldered ones in this manner. It works every time.

Was trying to avoid that, but here we go... front and back

Now they are clean cell phone boards.

The camera boards probably would go in midgrade boards after the wire is removed, which looks like it might be gold laminate because it has a black masking. There is a post about gold laminate in the sticky topics at the top of the first page here in the ID forum.

I think Boardsort might have a special rate for dirty cell phone boards (with shields on), but I don't know what it is. You would have to email Chris for that.

Thanks.

mid-grade for the cameras... hmm. Good idea.

I saw the post about gold laminate as mixed wire for various reasons. Thanks for that call out. Would take a lot to be able to weigh it. Guess I'm starting another jar for those discards.

And gold pin connector for the other end of the gold laminate wire. ;)

Definitely going through the discards and separating that.

So with the cameras, after cutting the black wire, leave as is and turn in as mid-grade boards? I mean I don't have to open it up like i did with the cellphone boards, or do I?

I would leave it as-is, otherwise you would have a board that weighs less.

That is where I personally would put the camera boards, but I would wait a couple of days to see if there is someone else who replies.
