Hello,

I can understand removing fans, but I'm not positive why to remove heat sinks since they're desired metals- is it because it's preferable for both sides to send in a separate batch of just heat sinks?

My ultimate question is what to remove on each of these and what grade. If I remove the fan & bracket on #2 and the heat sink on #3 would these all be "Gold Finger Card Clean NO Fan NO Sink NO Bracket"?

They will all be low grade gold finger card if you leave the heatsinks on.

Heatsinks are extruded aluminum. Yes they do have value, but the value of aluminum is much lower than the value of the PCB by weight. You can see the price for the clean aluminum heatsink category (as those appear to be the copperless type).
