Are these all considered ends in the Boardsort category? Some are from power supply wires.

Escrap soup.
only connecter ends with gold pins or gold metal can be sent in as connecter ends. those 20/24 pin atx ends probably don't have gold in them same for the 4 pin molex. i also see some connecters with PCB on them, there could be chips on the boards. definitely need to better sort all them

Many times I do this. I will use a flashlight to look into the connector looking for gold. Manufacturers are using less and less gold by only gold coating the contact areas. I agree with austin86. A lot of those connector ends do not qualify for Boardsort e-scrap Connector End category. Why? No gold on contacts. You need to check them for gold on the contacts.

Gotta be careful trying to look into them, you'll get a glint of yellow brass on some but you have to know what's brass vs gold without seeing much.

Yes. You are sooooo correct. I failed to mention that. It is especially difficult because modern flashlights use LEDs. It is not natural light. Its like you mentioned. Mistaking brass for gold. But. Brass will have the standard coating on it. Gold contacts will not. But. Even so. I learned from a real car painter about matching colors. It's not what most individuals think. As car bodies move through the paint line. The line doesn't stop and paint guns are cleaned. They just basically pump in the new color and let ĺt go. There are other variables also. What you end up with. Is many many technically different shades of the same color. The manufacturers actually will have many different paint codes for the same color. As we see it. For the same color. The paint code lets the local body repair shop know how to mix to get a correct match. As in. The correct gray color for example to match the rest of the car. You know how it goes. Take your car to replace a bumper. Fender. Hood. Once you get it home. It just doesn't look quite right. Ahh. It looked good in the shop. But. Not out parked in the driveway. Reason. Natural light vs artificial light. It is so critical to matching colors. They have invented a gun/flashlight for autobody shops that emit naturall light.
I said all that to agree with you austin86. 100%. I go outside to look at a questionable part in natural sunlight.
But. Experienced e-scrappers will known gold from junk just from type and use of a part.
I know this is a lenghty post. But. Knowledge is power.
Hopefully. This may help e-scrappers having difficulty identifying gold.

that would work rather well on the atx/4 pin ends
