If expansion board I imagine be best to cut off fingers.

I am not sure where the post is but once before I saw that cards like yours fall into the clean gold finger category. Gold fingers and only one expansion slot.

That actually would only be in Backplane board category. GFC you need some chip population. As long as it is Backplane according to this post it should be safe to cut the fingers.
