Checking to see where this would be graded. I have a handful and the backside is naked. Bracket is easily removable.

Pull the bracket for clean gfc

Or leave the bracket on and sell it as is for a slightly lower rate and higher overall amount.

Weigh with and without to determine that for sure.

So. I did. What? Weighed it out myself. I did a comparison of clean. Versus unclean.
I just came across about 80 Gold Finger Boards. My thinking is clean it. Go for top price. Was I surprised.
Ahh! Cptnspaulding has a point. Sadly.
So. I took two test lots of 7 GFC boards. One being small boards. The other. Larger boards. I weighed both lots with and without brackets and other metal and/or battery.
See pictures of my typical random selection.
My first lot of small boards with brackets compared to without. Came out in favor of leaving brackets on by 68 cents.
My first lot of larger boards with brackets compared to without. Came out in favor of
of the without brackets by 15 cents.
My conclusion. Leave the brackets on for small boards. Take the brackets off for larger boards.
Now. Hold on. I did a second lot of 7 boards. Same weighing. Bracket on. Against bracket off. Small board against large board. GFC of course.
Small board with bracket on came out 98 cents ahead of bracket off.
Larger board with bracket on came out ahead by 22 cents.
My conclusion. Confused.
One would think. Cleaning metal off of a board always increases value.
After all. You put in the work to clean.
I personally believe it is so random on board weights and amount of metal on the board. It is a toss up. When and when not to clean.
My 2 tests. To explore this issue. Tell me one thing for certain. Small boards with brackets can pay more.
But. Now. Having brackets doesn't help packing a box for shipping.
In my personal situation. I have relatively small quanities compared to full time scrappers. No Gaylords here. I mail all my escrap by Ground Advantage. Have done some Priority boxes.
My point. Flat Rate. So I stuff as much scrap in those boxes to build escrap weight against the Flat rate. Which means. Boards that are consolidated and compressed as close as possible. Fill the box. Add escrap weight against the postage. Brackets. Large capacitors. Other parts on the boards that add no value to the board. Keep me from a tighly packed box. I will bend over all capacitors. Even cut down plastic from input connectors. Just to pack tight as possible.
As far as I am concerned. That strategy puts me on top of postage etc.
See pictures. Of stacked GFC with brackets. Without. Then components bent over and plastic connectors cut down.
So. For me. Doing mail in. I consider board profile. To pack tightly.
As a sidenote. I am retired. I got time to search out stuff like this.
In the end. You got to make your own decisions on your own unique situation.

I almost mentioned the density issue when shipping but wasn't sure how to best phrase that when I posted so stuck to the value per weight issue.
