Not an old timer but not a newby either. Agree totally with watch the videos and review the posts by Chris or Lostinlodos about board categories. My motto has become : screwed or glued in general take it off (heat sinks, fans, aligment pins, other heavy metal junk). CPU chip hold downs on metal socket motherboards stay even though often just screwed on. Also, you must remove all batterys, even those sneaky ones that are soldered to tabs on some network switch boards. The big exception that sharkscrapper discovered is the bracket on gold finger cards. You actually make more, almost always, if you leave the bracket on, remove heat sinks and fans of course.
