Hi everyone, I wondering if this is a backplane board with all the connectors, but the video says they're not populated with chips. So would this be telco high? Low? All the connectors have gold pins.
Thanks for the help!

I'm not really sure where this fits.

You've got lots of gold pins and ICs so that's a plus off the bat, then the board itself appears to have gold throughout, if that's substantial enough this might be something that hits the gold edge category. If not Telco grade seems likely.

If nobody else can offer any thoughts this week I'd suggest emailing Chris (Boardsort) with a link to this or attach the photos to the email.

On appearance. Possible Gold Edge. I highly doubt it. I submitted boards that looked ideal for Gold Edge category. I got rejected and given a short lesson. A Gold Edge Board is a type of manufactured PCB which is heavy gold. The board itself weighs " heavy". The board weighs more than a regular board. Gold around a PCB and within. Is EMF shielding. Type of shielding needed in a base unit servicing. High frequency communication. Your board. Is not that type of Gold Edge Board. It looks good. But. Isn't.. Being High Telecom. I got misgivings on that. Why. Look at the metal on the connectors. The typical characteristic of High Telecom is clean and low profile. You really can't claim high density IC population. I would evaluate at best Low Telecom. But. I would also consider an alternative approach. Remove the Gold Pin Connectors. Submit the connectors as Connector Ends. Then submit the PCB as High Peripheral. You got to do the research and math on what I suggested. The question being. The board submitted as Low Telecom payout. Versus. Removing connectors. And a submissiion of a High Peripheral board plus Connector End payout.

The downside of only seeing the boards is not being able to feel the boards. There are probably some here that if you weighed the board and took a picture next to a ruler, could probably tell you more accurately about the value. I'm not one of those people ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Sorry. I did not even mention submitting as a Backplane Board. That might be the best overall submission. The video for Backplane does mention that a Backplane board typically does not have component population. But. Does not rule it out. But also. The video points out. Expansion slots as a major factor. Never the less we are looking at a lot of gold pin connectors on that board. Now. After reviewing Boardsort categories again. I feel comfortable submitting as a Backplane Board. Whether one would remove the IC's or not. As a matter of fact. If I had that board. My submission would be Backplane. EMAILING CHRIS. ALWAYS AN OPTION.

Really appreciate the detailed explanations you both have given. It is about 9” by 4”. I’ll see if any others have thoughts that can narrow it down before I email Chris as I’m not sending it in for a little while. Thanks
