Two relay boards, one is a SUPER CHUNK and the other more sleek (nothing on back). Don’t know how to classify. I appreciate any input. Thnx, the Mangler

remove the fuses on the tops one, glass is a big no no, the top board might be mid grade idk, the lower one has some ICs and might be Peripheral Low Grade

Fuses here appear to be ceramic.

Both look midgrade to me. Probably just pull the socketed ICs if you have ICs saved.

You are not wrong on the fuses but the can still shatter and make for a glass like mess. I was thinking the same about those ICs too.

Thanks guys. I will harvest the chunky relays and chips and take the boards to my local scrap yard. I thank you for the info. I will always remove the fuses when mailing to Ohio. Mangler

Correct me. If I am wrong. What is considered an integrated circuit? So. I believe I recall a post that made some IC specifics. Yes. I believe I read it on the Boardsort forum. I searched and searched. Sorry. Gave up looking. Or I would link it it. Pointed out differences. Any Integrated circuit below 6 pin outs. Can not be considered an integrated circuit. This makes good sense to me. Why? When the manufacturer make a lower pin package. It is a low power bridge rectifier. A resistor pack. A solid state relay. Or whatever. Not a DIE CHIP. And SO what? No gold bonding wire. No gold overlay/flash. For the DIE. Just straight out resistor/diode stuff. ( forgive me for being blunt). Is this true? For Boardsort evaluations. I know already it will take Chris or lostinlodos or marked141 or another seasoned forum member to comment. Where I am coming from? Simple. When we are doing evaluations. Especially close to Midgrade against Low peripheral and others. I believe we just see a CHIP and count it an IC. So far from from the truth. Sorry Lindylou. Mangler. I did with intent. Jump on that evaluation of the second board. Those CHIPS only have 6 pins. I only wish I could read the part numbers. But. Looking over the circuitry. Those 6 pin IC chips are not IC chips. They could never qualify for the Boardsort IC Chip category. They are some kind of resistor pack. Solid state relay. Or impedance matching scheme by the engineer. If those 6 pin packages are integrated circuits. I stand corrected. But Lindylou. You have a better view. Give us the clue. IC part numbers by you. Lindylou. Oh. That was too easy to sound poetic. Ad hoc. As it seems. I am just bringing out a point about real ICs versus other DIP packages that looked similar. Looking for input. No reflection on you Lindylou. Or the forum. Just past posts I thought I read and can not find again. Please. Do not think I being overbearing by making this post. But. It is what it is. Lostinlodis. Marked141. Spence bail me out here.

It is 6 or more pins, a good reference is Lostinlodos' CPU guide which mentions ICs at the bottom.

So on pin count we're good here.

But, the picture is not completely clear for what the components are, without part numbers you can't verify 100% so I'm falling back to experience. They look like ICs and while I don't understand the function of every elevator board, I have seen a few and I expected there to be some but I could be wrong.

So it's possible you're whiskers are picking up on something :P

I know next to nothing about boards and components. I am accumulating some knowledge from the forums and utube university. So, that’s what I got for ya. Haven’t done anything with the boards yet.

Lindylou Thanks for posting the part numbers. Those ICs are optic couplers. I was just curious to know. Maybe a little overkill on my part asking.

So. Those optic couplers on the elevator boards go into the IC category. Thanks again Marked141.
Needed to get the issue correct in my head.
Lindylou. (Mangler). It's not absolutely necessary to know IC part numbers. To e-scrap. Though. One exception among others is recognizing a real time clock circuit on a PCB. Why? Cause it can have a lithium battery inside the package. There is a helpful post covering that. Also. Relays with mercury wetted contacts. One must be able to recognise that package. There is a post on recognising that. Thanks. To Lostinlodos. (Who is not lost.) I'm a retired electronic technician. It's only natural for me to get peaked to know a component at times. But. It isn't necessary to have an IC Master Catalogue to do escrap. I'm learning one day at time also. E scrap is a totally different world for me. University of U-tube Yes. I attend regularly. The forum is beyond valuable.
