Hello everyone,

I just have a curious question about modern laptop motherboards. I usually come across Apple laptops that don't have a CPU socket.

Are these considered Laptop Motherboards or Integrated Motherboards (No Gold BGA)?

Forgive my ignorance. I am kind of new at this. It might be a simple answer to most of you but to me it's quite a challenge.

I will attach a few sample pictures of the motherboards taken out of laptop machines only. These are not boards that come from printers, scanners, micro pc, or game consoles.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Kind regards,
Natalia

The top board has a Gold BGA. No way. Integrated Motherboard. Submit that as Lap Top.
The bottom board. I have been through a similar grading problem. It's easy to see it being an Integrated Motherboard. But also. It came from a Laptop. For me. Anyway. Watching both the videos on both categories. Hard to make a decision. But. One can fall back on the statement. "Laptop Motherboards come from Laptops." So. Using that as a guide. Submit the bottom one as a Laptop Motherboard. A more experienced forum member may comment. I hope they do.

i agree with marked141's assessment of the top board, with the gold tab bga, i'd throw that in laptop mobos.

it's a pretty strict category though.. surprised they are not marked "complex item" .. from what i remember, i would say look for a board that has a cpu socket and is over 10 inches wide. they have to come from laptops. no netbooks, no disposable crap, real laptops. i.e. basically laptops made before 2010. with some exceptions of course.

i'm curious as to what other people say about board #1. i would throw that in with laptop motherboards, but i've never ran into one like that. the only boards i put in that category are socketed. but i am guessing the bga makes up for the lack of cpu socket .. please someone correct me if i am wrong.

the second board is most definitely integrated motherboard. no chance it makes it into laptop grade.

Good morning everyone.

Thanks for the prompt replies. Honestly, I disassembled about 40 different size and brand laptops, and all presented the same cpu socket where I had to physically remove the cpu and sent it in separately. That made it very easy as the Sales Menu on the website has a picture of what a laptop motherboard is. However, I have been saving the ones that come from anything Apple brand because most look like the pictures I posted. My first reaction was the same a some of you. "If it came from a laptop, it sure is a laptop motherboard." I was tempted to send about 15 pounds of these as laptop motherboards but then doubt hit me.

Anyway, thanks so much for your help. I will make a note of all suggestions and see how it goes.

If you don't mind, I will post a reply in a few weeks with an answer from BoardSort directly when they receive my shipment so it can benefit all of us.

Have a great weekend.

Natalia
