what Ive got is half of a cpu firmly melded to a large heavy-ish metal heatsink (?) its connected to a copper looking plate - I can remove the fans but how do I get this cpu off? can I send it in as-is? is it worth even bothering with? the metal is solid ie. not breakable
also my box is packed to go & then I got this & another similar board both which are to long for box - can I cut it to fit if I tape the piece w the board?

Flathead screwdriver under the edge and twist. Or if you have a torch or heat gun, generously heat the heatsink and it should slide off with a gentle tap

it's scrap... use some force and don't be worried about braking it. a screw driver, pliers, small pry bar.
