But is there a 7 spline? I thought I got close a couple times too finding a tool supplier (which would have cost more than it was worth for one teardown) but each time was just not quite right

I was going to say the same think. Ifixit has everything you need.

Not that I saw when I looked at their 112 piece kit. It's there something bigger?

You are looking for a Katal TT seven star.
Give me a bit (punny) and I’ll pull up mine.

With care the Y bits usually work.

This is what you need but smaller!

Close...but the head of the screw is 7 pointed. The tool needed to be a socket with 7 splines.

But it's not important anymore, I forced my way passed the screws.

Ah inverted.

Worst case fix that nearly always works is an screw extractor.
Bad for fixing but for scrap, doesn’t matter if you ruin the holes

I have 4 sizes in my set. I'm unsure if they changed the configuration or arrangement of the bits but I see a couple gamebit sizes there.

What you are looking for is called a gamebit, G3.8, G4.5

The bigger ones are, 5-7-12 node security drivers

Yes, it looks like the new sets do not have them anymore. I have a 5 and 7 with the G 3.8 and G 4.5 for the smaller ones in game systems.
