Just purchased 50+lbs of mixed gold RAM. I got it cheap enough that I can flip the whole lot for scrap and make a few hundred bucks but is it worth trying to sell any other way? Test and bundle? eBay lot? Only thing is I’m not looking for a long drawn out profit process.

Well, that’s enough you may want to consider sales. Especially if you want to do it more than once.
My suggestion:
A dirt bottom mobo ($25-$50), low end Ryzen processor ($<$50), garbage 200wt PS ($10 used) and a laptop SATA hard drive or USB stick. Plug the hdmi into a small tv ($10). KB (99č)
Free copy of Memtest.

You can plug 2-4 sticks in at a time depending on the mobo. And just boot off memtest and run the tests.
Selling ram is easy if you stand behind it. So add a junk wired printer to your setup. When the test is done you can print a report. That allows you to prove it passed. Anti static bags are quite inexpensive. Often on packs of 50, 100, or 250.
I place one stick in. Fold, next stick, fold, etc. And tape the bundle tightly.
Your protected eBay wise having proof it worked. And buyers buy verified ram before unverified.
Under 1GB and 4GB+ are easiest to sell.
Just keep in mind there are 5 generations of DIMMs. They’re not interchangeable.
There’s also 3 package formats. DIMM, SODIMM, and uDIMM. Again not interchangeable.

If you have exactly 50# and they are all the highest price "Gold Fingered Ran" that lot is worth $800 before shipping costs with boardsorts current pricing.

If any of that is shielded ran it's worth the time and effort to remove the spreaders to up their value immensely.

That for me is the quickest turn around for profit rather than the time to test and then list on eBay then wait for the buyer to show up blah blah blah.

That's my 2¢

That’s a very good point.
Fastest is to take the major payday for scrap and move on.

There’s logic in looking further though.
Small modules like DDR3 and DDR4 256MB can fetch $20 or so. Where 512 is under $3 and 1GB is just scrap. 2GB-8GB is a major dumping ground so it’s almost not worth trying. Just too much competition. But at 16GB you’re back into the $20+ per module.

The two most common bulk dumps I’ve seen are 1-4GB DDR3/DDR4 modules where people with a lot just got fed up with the waiting.
And DDR2 of any size since the market here is for new new stock, then new old stock, and finally used. But there’s so much new that sitting on used DDR2 is a long wait.

Your selling besties are DDR3/DDR4 in any form at 16GB or more.
But the grail modules are 128 MB (megabyte) DDR4 DIMMs which cost as much as 64 and 128GB. (Tiny supply for very specific use application). These can run as high as $75-$150. Or more!

Alright so step one when it arrives....sort it all out to figure out what I’ve got then go from there?

That’s logical. Until you have it you don’t know what you have.

Also wished I knew <1GB were good sellers. I have scrapped bunches of those in the past. I’ll probably jump back in here with more info once I have it. Excited about the haul either way haha

Only in the most recent formats. Especially DDR4.
I’ve never done it myself (3.11 runs fine in a VM or HV), but the general premise is replacing an ancient system in place with modern parts.

I tend to go the other way. Old stuff for modern machines.

There’s a DDR4 512MB stick that sold 14 months ago on ebay for $74.50 (actually best offer so we don’t know the real price). And if you have onion or garlic access; the HDE lists 256MB for for 0.15 BTC or 10000 tron.
Which is $150-$200 floating.

The flip side is old stuff that was normally in that range like 256mb DDRSDR which will barely get you $5, before shipping.

The lot came in today and while I’ve only just begun to dig through and sort I’d say 25-30% of it is this brand/capacity/type. Too common to be worth testing and selling (versus scrap) or no?

$3-$6 used. Free shipping-$4 average. So under $10 each. Hynex is one of the actual memory fabricators. Like Samsung is. And that is a higher end level part.

The part number alone shows over 35 posted on ebay right now.
Various other methods of looking it up like name:size, name:speed, etc show about 150 or so currently posted.
Most sales show that sub $10 range after shipping.
If they all work and your the patient type you may have a better pay day that way. I’m not sure ho many modules make 50lbs. It looks like pairs sell for $25.
Two modules properly packaged in a small box will be about $6 to ship first class package with the ebay discount rate.
