The boards from a floppy disk drive will be considered Peripheral Grade as long as they still have the connector pins on the board.

The board from a PC CD-ROM/DVD unit has its own grade, which at the time of this post is $2.65 per pound. These boards must be cleaned of all ribbon wire as well as any smaller brown sided accessory boards that may be hooked to those wires.

You are welcome to post pictures of boards you have a question about, in fact we encourage it. There is a forum devoted to that very thing:

"What is It? Identification Forum"

I was also curious about tape drives. I just purchased a ton of them and would bet they fall into cd/DVD category. But figured I would post and find out. They are pretty populated so it also wouldn't surprise me to be able to get telco or hard drive price out of it. But I'm just a new guy. I will see what boardsort has to say. Here is an example of one....

Really? It seems better populated than some of the cd/DVD boards I've pulled. And gold pins. What makes you say peripheral? Not disagreeing just trying to learn so I can figure it out on my own.

I think you would be able to get cd/dvd board classification for those... Hopefully Chris will be able to give you a definitive answer.

I think (I'm not them) it's the number of pins as the ports are shorter. ?
I only say peripheral because a bunch of jazz and hp boards i sent in for review . Not quoted . Were taken as peripheral.
Maybe Chris could clarify this.
