Greetings,

Have a few questions regarding low grade boards:

1. I have been seeing a lot of low grade boards with this (see picture 1). Is this a battery or something that needs to be removed?

2. What is the rule on screens? Are plastic displays ok? What about other types? (next few pictures) Does the size of the display/screen matter at all?

3. What about IC Chips? I know opinions may vary, but should they be removed from low or mid grade boards to maximize return/profit?

4. I am assuming a lot of material can be left on low grade boards to maximize weight. What would be considered acceptable vs. excessive? I have attached a few low grades for review (last pictures)

I appreciate all of the help I have been given in the forums.

Thanks

Not a battery

If it’s easily removed, one or two connectors, not glued or soldered, remove it. If it’s super super attached ignore it. Use clear packing tape over the screen.
LED alpha/numeric screens like the second photo down, can stay.
Vacuum tubs screens, however should always be removed and disposed of properly as hazmat. Besides the basic phosphorus and magnesium, you also have iodine and nickel. And if old enough some mercury. So carefully remove vacuum screens or don’t send the board in.

Opinion is variable. I remove them, but I have a low value for my “I’m bored” time.

Well, when the iron or steel weight passes the everything else weight it’s no longer a board. It’s breakage or shred etc.

You wouldn’t ship a whole car and expect automotive board rate. Even if it’s technically accurate.
Likewise sending in the whole house with the computer doesn’t get full system rate.

And no, you can’t send the whole tractor when a laptop is built into the dash of the peterbilt.

In reality, it’s rare to have boards that can’t clear
Low grade.
