For a power adapter with wire category (ie laptop power adapter), do both the permanent attached device end wire and the removable plug end wire have to be present or can it just have the permanent attached device wire?

The class of power supply is for the cube power supplies. Not laptop adaptors.

A laptop adaptor with the external transformer box needs the transformer box cut loose.
The wire is mixed wire and the box or bump plug is transformers and motors class.

Follow up: I say cube as in perfect cube or modular/semi modular consumer class plug based power supplies.

Redundant and rack supplies fall into multiple classes (usually power supply without wire) but need to be reviewed one by one. Something like Sun’s power on card units would get low peripheral. So would most Sony and Onkyo power block cards. And those are the exceptions that not only break out of PS but are probably better off trimming the gold finger strip off and selling the giant card as transformer. Since your looking at about 4-6 ounces of gold finger strip.
