Found a post for requirements removing thermal paste on heatsinks. Do I need to remove the material on the bottom of the heatsinks in this picture?

I don't, and until my local scrap yard tells me different I won't.

That being said, I don't know how boardsort handles that. I know some scrapyards are much more particular about their aluminum having anything on it.

That steel hold down should be removed though. I don't bother with most of those and throw it in breakage.
