I have a bunch of 48 port Cisco Catalysts. when i remove the heat sinks, there are 2, 3 or 4 modules attached to the board.(1st pic). I’ve removed a few. (2nd pic). Should i leave them on the board or remove them, while i remove the junk?

The whole board is high peripheral.
The smaller modules without shield are high peripheral and the cleaned board is as well.
Leave them on.

I can’t remove the shields due to them being screwed on from underneath the module. should i still leave them on? Also, the seem to me to higher grade than high peripheral. Thoughts on the grading please. thanks

it’s okay. I have 75 more. this was just one. I haven’t removed any chips, mlcc’s or tantalum’s. just heat sinks, capacitors and copper.
Just trying to upgrade. Was thinking that these would be high telco or at minimum low telco.

Honestly 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999… (more but my thumb tired) percent of users will never successfully upgrade a board with stripping. I fail half the time with decades of experience here and beyond.

Any chance you had at low telco (a few switch boards get upgraded on review) is gone with killing the ports.

Just leave them be.
The idea of “upgrades” is a pipe dream that works out for only the most highly experienced willing to spend pointless wastes of time. Myself included. And failing half the time or more.

It’s far beyond knocking off a bit of steel or nickel here or there.thetes a deep art in scrap value, and those at the top, the ultimate buyers at the top of the pyramids: are a fickle few in the first place.

Use the what is it section

There are lifetime veteran scrappers here. Use the people to learn.
The most evil sin a. Escrapper makes is to make his own decisions without asking first
Again: I’ve done that many times. Even lately

Day one or day 10k: ask always

The best thing I can tell you and anyone else: I’m not perfect.

But never strip anything off a board beyond heat sinks and shields unless you are told by a more experienced seller.

I’ve mad this mistake day one and day-now. The idea of properly upgrading a board by removing things is a real, advanced, and rarely-achievable art. One that still somewhat alludes me
