Be sure to read the pinned posts at the top of the forum sections, especially the How to Sell and the Before Shipping Us Anything posts.

If you've never done any scrapping be prepared to learn a lot. If you've done any kind of metal scrapping, still be prepared to learn a lot. A good topic to peruse on the different grades is here.

Also check out the linked pictures and videos in the payout page for examples.

If you're not sure what to do with certain boards after looking through all that or if you have any specific questions, just pop back in and ask. Do use the What is it? section to upload pictures of any stuff you need help with.

I would also watch a lot of videos on YouTube about this subject.Shark scrapper has several , and there are others on how to sell and sort boards.

Good luck!

Most of the e-scrap videos are posted by people who desire to smash the components, spend fortunes to recover minute amounts of precious metals and dump the profit down the drain. The only value in most of those videos is learning which components add value to a board. After the gold recovery amateur gets thru depopulating boards, they are sellable only at the lowest grade at Boardsort, and most local scrapyards will only give shred steel price. of a few cents per pound.

I Disagree, I watch several that don't depopulate boards, shark scrapper is a great person to watch to learn about it.Maybe you haven't watched it.I would suggest watching it so you can educate yourself more and know that not all videos are like that. They don't depopulate, they do it right.

Here’s the thing with this. He’s right in general. Most “scrap” videos will simply push gold and silver recovery.
Those videos break down into two types and an addendum.

There’s the try it on film and omg that was stupidly expensive and now what to do with all this hazmat, but yes I got a button.

Then there’s the I’m going to get a gold button so what Ftw I’m the winner. Who don’t care how much they spend for their 1/10th ounce of gold in the end. Sadly these people do so many they top most charts for electronic scrap.

Then there’s the good ones, like shark.
Intend to point people to moose scrapper out of mane as a good day one. Yes: he refines. And tells you exactly how much time and money went into it, what he got out of it, and the clean up cost.
He also regularly did recycling and scrap videos as well.

One word on his grades, he’s outdated. He started refining, moved to escrap sales with one company than moved to selling to boardsort while still using the other company’s terms. And his board sort push predates the class expansion and splits.

I have another one of my 26 hour flights coming up in the next 60 days.
I’ll use that to cull my YouTube subscriptions and come up with a ‘good’ list of video posters at that point in a fresh topic.

over seas flights are fun!!! I go back and forth to the Philippines a lot as I have family there. Nothing beats 30hr sitting in a plane... NOT

On a side note I almost got kicked off a flight once. I have a old iPhone 5SE that I use. I replaced the battery with a far higher mAh rated not safe aftermarket one that was unstable and leaked current. I knew it would interfere with the selfie microphone and 4G service and the whole phone would electrify when charging but little did I know it would interfere with radio singles too. oops. I since replaced the battery but I sure miss the far longer battery life.

Philippines?
My wife and family are there (and my current half life soon near total life).

Flight time depends on when I want to leave and where I want to stop.
Tokyo is either 17, 19, or 22 hours
I use the same three flights 8 trips a year through there.

Taipei and Korea are around 24hr and I only do either route in May/June to get Korean super slim camel crush sunburst cartons as a gift for a family member. (And they always give me a pack or three in response) so, as long as I keep getting a pack back I’ll keep making the longer trip. They really are worth it.

Where you from/go?
We’re in San Jose, the far reaches of the metro area.
Maybe I’ll make a thread elsewhere for us travellers.
