Hello i'm new to board sort. I see that they pay 2.40 for silver plated brass. This is a great price but with shipping from Connecticut it doesn't quite make sense. I was wondering if anybody knows somebody in my area that buys silver plate at a good price. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With Chris's permission, I can weigh in, in more depth. I don't want to impede Boardsorts business in any way.
There is a company in NH that buys silver plate and gold fill material, $3-5 a pound for flatware, $28/oz for gold fill and they also buy Sterling, although I wouldn't recommend that. You pay for shipping.
Also, local yards will buy the plate all day for Brass (~$1.65/lb) if shipping the stuff is not an option. By the time you factor in the shipping costs, this is about what you're making anyway, unless you're peppering in some pieces in a flat rate box or something to supplement a shipment.

Thanks for the reply. Yea I’m not even getting that for brass here. They are only giving me like 1.15 for brass right now in ct. honestly I would probably drive to NH when I have enough to make it worth it. If it’s ok with Chris could you give me the name of the place in NH. Thanks alot

Brass scrap is floating in the $0.75-$1.50 range

Silver plate is a different Beast all together.
925PL like flatware is very different from 775 Bell brass (decorative plate). Which are both not 995uP used for electronics.
The majority of scrap companies buy plated brass as a copper or brass weight. Ignoring the silver altogether.

Don’t post the name: but you could post your electronic communications account as user residing in server • tld.
And exchange the info off site.

Just checked @ 11:57 am 10/23/20
Yellow Brass- $1.50/lb
Red Brass- $1.60/lb

We historically enjoy much nicer scrap prices here being on the Hudson and a short boat ride south to the downstream NYC markets and beyond.

Gbartomioli, you can DM me via my email which is my user name residing within Gmail.
This company doesn't care what kind of silver plate you have (995up, 925pl, etc.)The flatware is worth much more than the hollow ware (if you have any) and a lot more than plated knives (the blade generally isn't plated and the handle is usually weighted). They have been fair and send you a report along with your check. I would pre-weigh the material anyway, just to be sure.
