We now buy Yellow and Black Tantalum SMD

We are offering to buy certain Tantalum capacitors. They must be the SMD type (surface mount) and be either yellow or black.



Here is the catch. You can mix the yellow and black together with no problem, BUT there must be ONLY yellow and black tantalum in your mix. If there are items other than yellow and/or black SMD tantalum in your collection, it will be purchased at a ridiculously low price. The reason being is that it is extremely time consuming for our staff to clean contaminated SMD's and we must pass that cost on.

Having said that, if you are concerned if your mix of SMD tantalum is not up to snuff, you may consider sending a small sample first to make sure you are processing and sorting correctly.

I’m going to temporarily interject. Having sold tantalum to another set of buyers in the past, regularly and for many many years:
Until Chris clarifies or modifies this clean means clean.
No solder. No mounts. No nickel or tin pins. No PCB. No brackets. No fins.

Very good news i was waiting that for years of saving them. But, what about the other tantalum. cilinder tipe with arrowed end and the old ones of mostard color with two legs??

Our plan is to later introduce those as well. As of now we are only buying the SMD type until we have a firm grasp on the viability of this. There are several pitfalls that we need to navigate in order to expand on this item.

So as of now we only buy the type in the picture.

And they must be clean of solder and extraneous material. Pure and clean.

Those would constitute pins. Not yet.

Each form is manufactured differently.
The SM ones are fairly simple. Contact pads. Nano wire. Tantalum.

Other forms are more on the macro scale. This is where weight ratios need to be calculated and that take more time than just figuring out a few samples.

I’ve been bare stripping stuff for a long time so I can give a bit of insight on some of these less common scrap items. SSCs, solid state capacitors, of any type have very tight ratios in construction. And each minor difference makes a major value shift.

Tldr: Pins weigh considerably more than screened pads. They’re also built and mounted very differently. They need to figure out the ratio range for different sizes. That takes time.

Thanks for the info, what i`m going to do is, separate them (60 pounds) the ones for sell will go in a bucket shower with water and hydrocloric one night, them wash and dry and sell. very clean material,

I find the most in telecom boards, medical stuff 80-90`s better, allmost old boards comercial, laptops, servers. look for old stuff. the black ones make shure the mark of capacitor, don`t pic the look a like diodes

As I read in your post and that of Lost, both of your comments reiterated a number of times, absolutely clean Tantalum caps, no solder, board, pins etc.

Looking at your photograph, I do see several with a bit of metal hanging off an end or two, here and there.

If this is acceptable, then good to go.

I’m not nit picking, just want to make sure I don’t send in something sub par and down graded as such when going off of your photo.
