The difference of (today) $12 and $32 is substantial enough that most people will do the work.
That said here’s my plan. If you have a bench drill or press riveted shields are easy. Most above have some sort of compression lock. Stack the ram up and snap the rivets out. 99% of the time the shields then simply fall off by banging the stack. The manual method; use tin snips. You can cut the rivets on the inside edge of the circle. Cut through the board, the rivet, and the shield. Then see below.
For standard shields I do the quick screwdriver test. (Actual I use the backing brace from a paint scraper, it’s thicker, wider, and more torque). Pop left pop right if the shield comes off first try good if not it’s shielded ram.
