What do you do when you have 1.4 lbs or .6 lbs ? Do you prorate the price or do I have to wait until I find a full pound. It would be 386/486 chips so finding another 1/2lb might take a lifetime. I have a bunch of ram to send but only .5-.8- 1.4 on the more expensive chips.

Also, what category would ceramic chips from printer boards go ? they look similar to 386.

Thanks

The Boardsort instant quote form is set up in Lbs and Oz. You need to weigh your scrap in pounds and ounces to get the proper payout. Here's an example.

9.6 Ounces of Gold Fingered RAM at $40.00 per pound = $24.00

Total Weight: 0.6 lbs
Total Payout: $24.00

Thanks for the reply. I didn't word it very well since it was 2am but I was basically asking if it was OK to send items that don't have a full pound. In other lower value scrap such as metal, alum etc.. they usually don't count until you reach a 1lb.. it seems that's not the case for finer scrap which is good because I have a few items that can't make a full pound.

It’s fine to send under a pound.
Or even under an ounce. 0lvs 0.9oz

Decimals have never been an issue for me on pounds or ounces. Make sure you have a scale that can weigh small increments and put in the weights as accurately as you can. Boardsort checks the weights when material is received too.

that's good and what I was hoping for .. since you guys know a bit about gold scrap can you tell me if it makes sense to cut off PCI/AGP/ISA cards ? I'm in Canada so it wouldn't be worth shipping 50lbs of boards but I'm thinking it might be worth it if I can salvage 1-2lb of gold connectors and scrap the boards locally. I believe you call these fingers.. The prices here are brutal, some places are offering pennies per/LB for gold scrap.
