Yesterday I visited Boardsort in person for the first time to drop off a bunch of stuff. I wound up leaving later than expected (from NC - a 9+ hour drive) and ran into some issues on the way and I didn't pull up until just before 4PM. I was anxious I was either too late or I was in time but people might be (understandably) a little grumpy about me rolling in just before close.
Nothing could have been further from the truth. Everyone was super friendly and helpful and efficient. They opened the bay door and had me back my vehicle in and helped me unload everything. (Pro-tip: Blue Ikea bags of various sizes work great for holding scrap!. Not only can they hold an astonishing amount of weight but they take up almost no space when empty.) Once all the containers and bags I brought were unloaded they quickly got to work getting everything weighed and tallied. (I also got to play with a dog for a little bit which was an unexpected bonus!) I can't tell you exactly how long I was there but I had 400ish pounds of different types of motherboards, different types of cards, RAM, CPUs, etc. and I felt like they got me a check in a reasonable amount of time.
All in all my experience with the Boardsort experience was great and I would absolutely go back. (Though I wouldn't go up and back in the same day again - 19 hours in the car in one day sucks.) There were only two downsides to my trip, neither of which were Boardsort's fault but I'm going to whine a bit:
1) The quality of the roads in Cleveland is abysmal. There are roads in active warzones that have been bombed daily for years that feel bad for roads in Cleveland.
2) The branch of their bank I took the check to couldn't cash it due to the amount. (Apparently it needed a manager's approval and the manager was gone for the day?) They suggested I try another branch but it was too close to 5PM for me to make it to another branch.
