I understand what boardsort is looking for, trays, pitchers, cups that kind of stuff, my yard will buy the same thing as brass but they won't take flatware knives forks spoons etc they tell me that there are other metals along with the brass in these, will boarsort take the silverplated flatware?

Boardsort will take any clean(ish) silver plated brass or copper.
Forks and spoons are rarely an issue. So if your yard turns them down completely it’s generally based on a misconception.

I’d say no to knifes and jewellery boxes in general. Silver plated knifes are a double whammy. The steel blade is not worth the SP rate. AND the handle is almost always weighted with earthen material.
If the knife is plate it’s weighted.

Actually what boardsort is wanting, vs what they take across the board, is contacts and connectors. Things normally ignored by local yards.
That said other than knifes and jewellery boxes there’s no real restriction

Even Sterling, boardsort would pass on those two cases; knifes and jewellery boxes.

There’s just too many unknowns in the majority.

Anything newer than the 1720s is debatable weight content wise. Anything older and boardsort is the LAST place to be looking.

Be it scrap or collectibles that’s the changeover point in silver when the crown allowed stamping weighted materials.

— there were 4 crowns of consequence at the time and the silver certification methods were reluctantly agreed on internationally over the decade of 1714-1726. —

Knifes have weighted handles containing minerals.
JBs are often filled with compressed sand.
