I understand the need to remove these. But do they need to be removed if soldered in?

If they are on a board they do not need to be removed. If you are removing IC chips from a board and selling ics to board sort do not have any Dallas switches mixed in with your ics.

ALL Dallas and other clock units with batteries, and all batteries, need to be removed from all materials sent in except laptops, cell phones, and media players.

You can use a box cutter to cut through the pins of soldered clocks.
