Those look like they came out of printers.

My guess is midgrade on the long skinny boards and peripheral on the WiFi card.

Yep. Did some digging on those WiFi modems after that post.
They’re “soft” modems. They include a bonjure package and AFP stack on chip as a payload for software setup.
In otherwords they have what is needed to make a WiFi module but depend of the OS to actually do the processing.
