Pulling apart an old laptop I thought it had 2 CPUs so I popped them off the motherboard. Now I wonder if I should have since they were soldered down.Is the mystery chip the audio/video chip (north-south bridge)? Will that devalue the board ?

Since it is only one laptop I would think it would be OK to just tape them back on the board. Boardsort is only going to pull them off anyway.

My advice is, don't remove flatpacks, ever. They are only $2 per pound, while high grade peripheral is currently $2.60 per pound. Also, the board will likely be downgraded if you remove chips from it.

unless it is low peripheral or below and it won't be worth shipping
