I do see that BoardSort currently buys gold pins, and also see that their focus filter is “blue”, indicating that there may be more complex issues. I currently have close to 6 pounds of “various” gold pins. I started pulling them from day one of e-scrapping and have always just thrown all of them into the same bin. Is that acceptable for BoardSort, or do I need to do anything more with them? Obviously I am at this point not going to go through, pin by pin and separate them into several categories or clip some of them down after checking each one as this is obviously THOUSANDS of pins. Thank you for any help or advice.

Your fine.
The issue with gold pins is that you’re just about always better off with the value of the item pins intact rather than removing pins alone.

Is it safe to assume the hard disc drives are not gold pins? I tried extracting gold from them through chemical baths but either didn't get anything or messed it up.

Hard drives have some gold pins. The pins on the controller board for the protocol port.
And the pins in the internal relay connector at often gold as well.

If you are talking about the round platters inside a hard drive. No. With very few, very old, exceptions there’s no gold.

Not hard drives and not cd rom/DVD. The old square disc you used instead of floppy disc. That drive. I don't have a pic of 1 but can get 1 tomorrow. They typically have a brown board with next to nothing on them. The pins look gold

Ah, the 3.5 inch micro floppy.

The pins are definitely gold. Don’t remove them, floppy drives boards go as peripheral boards.
