Hello, this is my first post so if I am messing anything up please let me know.
My question is in regards to the so called long finger boards found inside flat screen TVs. I have a particularly long variation as I was given a massive broken flat screen tv that is usually used on a production line in an assembly plant so workers can see some information the company wants to broadcast.
These boards are gold fingered all the way and have gold squares/corners that are about 1 square inch, 3 in total I believe. One in the middle and two on the ends.
Should I cut the gold finger straps off and sell it as gold fingers at board sort, or is there a better option besides resale on ebay.
Thanks for the insight and I'm excited to learn and grow with this community!

The old adage:
" A picture is worth a thousand words"
A photo helps incredibly with your question.

Right! Sorry I'm posting this and I'm not at home with the exact board. But here are some pictures of exactly what I'm reffering too, except the one I have is much longer. They have this ribbon tape over the gold fingers you have to peel off that has wiring in it.

Leave intact. They will either be low peripheral (what I think you have) or high peripheral if there's enough integrated circuits on there.

When you pull the strip off the lcds panel be very careful not to break the glass. Boardsort doesn't want the glass or any shards left. Ideally you should remove the ribbon cable from the circuit board, last I heard, Boardsort isn't particularly interested in the ribbon cables themselves.

I thought to chime in also.
I have sold those exact boards to Boardsort as High Peripheral. I have not got downgraded. As Marked141 said remove the ribbon cable. I save that type of ribbon cable from cell phone boards also and really anything else having it. Only because I see them selling on Ebay. That small amount of gold on the ends I have heard it called flash. As a sidenote. I will most likely never wiill tear apart cell phones again. View the Escrap price list videos on Cell Phone Boards and Cell phones. You will learn why. Which now dovetails right into my next statements
.........................................................
...............................................................
...Go to the Boardsort E-scrap price list.
Look at the High Peripheral Category.
Click on and watch the video. You will see your PCB boards mentioned there.
They will sell as High Peripheral to Boardsort.
NOW! ALSO.
Go to the gold finger category.
Click and view the video.
The speaker will mention what the results are of trimming gold fingers from boards.
Overall. You lose money.
So. You have to decide.
Me. Personally I sell those boards "as is" to Boardsort.
As a sidenote. You can break the board in half or thirds . What ever to make it convenient for mailing purposes.Keep the boards together. I tie wrap mine. Unless of course you are going in person to Boardsort.
As always you can directly mail your question directly to Boardsort.
Being new. Like me. I found it imperative to view the videos. The videos in the annoucements and topics. The pictures and videos on the Escrap price list. Also. You Tube has videos about the escrap business. It is the only way to get a feel for the industry.
There are forum members that have been at this for years and are in the business. I am only learning and getting rid of a hoard of electronics I have. I am a novice.
But. It's there. The information is there to make intelligent decisions. So. Put in the time downloading topics etc. It is an amazing idustry. From the Frog pond to the Tadpole. Good luck.
