Looking to sell these CPU's to boardsort for my first time! I have already identified dozens of other Pentium CPU's as well as quite a few i486 gold cap CPU's. I have researched and tried to figure out what grade/type these CPU's (listed below) are but I have no idea.

Need some help grading these CPU's. I am not sure what brand or grade the non cyrix cpu's are. I believe that both types are 486 grade gold cap but not fully sure, so I decided to post and get some help/feedback.

I'm pretty sure that you have to remove the green heatsinks. If there are a gold caps underneath then they will probably go as 386/486.

The AMD ones should go as 386/486.

correct. including the K5/ 5x86. like first run original pentium those 80586 era ceramic chips with gold caps go as 486 as well.

Hello, I've got a quick question. The first and second images of the opening post, specifically the "Cyrix Cx486 DX2-66" (center one), this cpu doesn't have a gold cap on the bottom or under the heat sink, so which category does it fall into? Thanks c(_)

Obix, as scrap a cyrix ceramic cpu with gold pins and no gold cap would fall under AMD ceramic no metal

Thanks for the reply's, appreciated. When you mentioned they are potentially worth far more working I'm assuming you're referring to eBay? I just stumbled onto this possibility on another cpu, I've got a good Pentium Overdrive with cooler, I was shocked at what they're going for on eBay...

The winChip series does have some gold cap chips as well. So always worth the effort to remove the spreader.
But as Austin86 points out, today, if they work, sell them for what they are. The retro market is booming … and a large number of always-on equipment is starting to fail. ATMs, Train switches, elevators, …

Hey thanks so much for the pointers, it really helps. I've done tech service/repair work most of my life and am now finally getting around to cleaning out the last of my storage units. I've got boxes of all sorts of old electronic equipment, I'm attempting to get some of this stuff cleared out so I can finish the last of it, a bunch of old apple stuff (IIe, classics, etc).

This is the Pentium Overdrive I came across.

I know Lost was looking for some apple stuff awhile back for his collection...not sure if he still is or what state the collection is in currently.

that would be great, I'm more interested in getting things to others who may use them then I am in scrapping. It's just I've got to get ride of all this stuff... Here is a quick picture I took a couple weeks ago of some of the remaining apple stuff, I'll probably start a new thread here when I get into it.
