I've sent in boxes (granted never wire) with loose material in the box but always packed with other things in separate boxes and tight enough that nothing could possibly mix unless the box itself was destroyed.

I know Lost uses wire as packaging, not sure if he bundles those at all or if they're just loose like packing peanuts would be.

I would think that as long as all the other material can be removed without much fuss and all the wire is still in the box after that, there's no issue.

You should probably start to bag up wire shorter than 3inches or so. Otherwise it could slip under the flaps and not get counted.

Ask marked point out I use long wires as bedding and capping in boxes. I pancake shorter runs with bow knots. For the sides.

But I box smaller boards on their own to put in the larger box and + strap with zip ties, making a plus.
