Hey all, couldn't locate a previous question in search so here goes.

The payouts picture for CD-ROM boards shows an IDE connection. Would the boards from SATA dvd drives fall in that category or somewhere else on the list?

Bonus question: what about 3.5mm floppy drives?

I have never had a problem with the interface type changing the grade of the board.

Let me see if I can find a post where Lostinlodos graded some CD boards for me cause I think that may help.

Floppy drives are usually peripheral if they have all the gold pins on them; that was before the high/low split on peripheral so hopefully high peripheral.

Found it.

So your compact drives from laptops will be the ones where you may not be able to get CD/DVD board grade because some of those boards don't have all the chips on one board.

You may also find CD/DVD class boards without a computer interface, there are examples of that in the second set of pictures I added to the above mentioned topic.

Thank ya, sir. These are all full sized drives so that'll be easy enough.

Thank you for this info! I have a few 'mini' DVD drive boards so I'm glad I saw this.
