Low peripheral Midgrade Gold plated pins* High peripheral
*depending how much work you're willing to do you can either try to sort any pins you get by how much gold you can see or (I guess and/or really) trim the gold plated bit from the non plated to get the most gold per weight. Boardsort typically gets their XRF gun out to check pins to give the most accurate payout. Pale yellow on a limited amount of the pins will be some of the lowest gold/weight. The deeper the yellow color gets, typically the thicker the plating and obviously the more surface area plated there's more gold on the pin. I try to sort any pins I get roughly by: Little surface area and thin plating, More surface and thin plating to little surface area and thick plating, Most/all surface area and solder/other low value stuff, and Clean pins fully gold
