I'm putting together a shipment and having trouble distinguishing between the middle of the pack boards. Here is a representative sample of what I have that isn't obvious to me. Boards labeled 1 and 4 are from small switches and they are quite similar. I don't recall what 2, 3 and 5 are from.

Would boards 6 and 7 be classified as gold finger? In general if they are expansion cards would that be the case?
If it came from a CD-Rom or Hard Drive, would those cards generally go in that category? (None pictured here)

Card 10 looks uninteresting to my untrained eye. Would this be a case for cutting off the gold tabs?

Thank you for taking a look.

Here's my guess:

10) Low Grade Peripheral or Midgrade. Since I'm not positive, I'll check with Chris (the guy that runs Boardsort).
8) High Grade Peripheral
7) Clean Gold Finger Card
6) Clean Gold Finger Card
5) High Grade Peripheral
4) High Grade Peripheral
3) High Grade Peripheral as is. I will also check with Chris to see if this board can get a higher grade with the two transformers removed.
2) High Grade Peripheral
1) High Grade Peripheral

Yes, all most all cards that have fingers will go as a Gold Finger Card. There is exceptions, of course. Some cards are so highly populated that they can go as High Grade Telecom while other cards (like board 10 in this post) have almost no value besides the fingers.

Yes, if it came out of a Hard Drive or CD-Rom Drive, then you would be safe putting the board into that category. The newer CD-Rom drives might not count since they have like 2 IC's on a tiny little board compared to the old drives that have a board that can span half the length and width of the drive (and some of the even older one have bigger boards) and they have many IC's.

I will let you know when I hear back from Chris.

Number 10 is similar to some cards I posted a few weeks ago. I'm seeing some gold plate on a few of the component legs (Chris may not see them if he's not looking closely) as well as the gold fingers. It should be at least low peripheral, possibly high, but all those fuses probably need to come off. Maybe the two metal heatsinks too.

Board 10 - WOW, AMF Electro Systems, the same AMF that bought and almost ruined Harley Davidson.
Many will have differing views on that. But a blast from the past nonetheless.

There does appear to be two cans on there with gold tabs as stated previously. In addition, there are what appear to be two gold plated posts in the upper corner.

On top of that, there are six axial Tantalum capacitors.

I know Board Sort isn’t buying that particular type yet. Shoot who knows though, maybe somewhere down the road.

And of course the gold fingers.

If it were me and was only going to get low grade, I’d trim it, pluck it and chuck it.

Sure, pull the transformers and I will accept 3 as High Grade Telecom.

Boy rough call on 10....

Leave fingers on and I buy at $1/lb(Low Grade Peripheral)

Trim fingers then Midgrade and then you have finger to sell.

Without doing the math I suspect $1 whole is the better deal for you
