Hi all, thanks for having me. Been out of the game for a bit but now back in full swing. These came out of an old 1980's Data General server. The ones that are 5' tall or so. Would I benefit from pulling certain things or just leaving as is? The pins on the ceramic chips have gold legs/pins. They look like CNC boards on the boardsort site but obviously they are not.

Also, is there such a thing as silver plating on older boards? These almost look like silver traces.

1) High telco

2) Gold Cap Chip Board; I'd go ahead and snip off the white wires

3) Gold Cap Chip Board; trim wires

4) Gold Cap Chip Board; trim wires and the aluminum (and transistors) can probably stay but could be removed if you need to for shipping

5) High telco; trim wire

6 front and back?) Anything is possible; the texture of the tracings look like there's mostly solder (which could have silver) on this board. Being from the 80s I would expect there to be some tarnish if it were high percentage of silver. As is I'm leaning low grade.

7-8) Tracings look cleaner here but same notes from 6. It looks like a lot of these components may be screwed down in a way that they can be removed more easily. Even if you do remove anything I'm again leaning low grade on these two.

Question: can the gold fingers be trimmed on the "gold cap chip boards" without affecting the grade?

Except for #4, I think the fingers can be trimmed without negatively impacting any of the boards. If you didn't pull the components on 4 I mentioned before I would definitely leave the fingers to offset any chance of the aluminum bringing the board down a grade.
