I scraped out a pair of Wii gaming consoles yesterday, my first.

I know the main board with the gold trim is peripheral as per my reading of past posts.

The small board attached to what looks to me like a CD/DVD/ROM drive. That board goes as CD/DVD/ROM board correct?

Haven't taken apart the read head yet, but suspect a small laser diode in there as well. If memory serves, the little gold plated laser diode goes as DLP chip correct? If so, ceramic or fiber?

Thanks,

RFIII

Correct on the main board. Cd/dvd board depends on the model. Most go as peripheral but the first generation with the large controller on the board are CD/DVD class. That controller is a square chip that takes up over a third of one side of the board.

The laser diode is an ic chip, not DLP.

Attached is a picture of the four boards I pulled from two Wii consoles.

The two large boards are peripheral as I understand them to be.

The two smaller boards are the ones that were pretty much attached to the cd/dvd drive assembly.

Are these the ones classified as peripheral?
Or, is the large flat pack near the corner, the controller you referenced, and it goes as cd/dvd class?

Thank you Lost,

RFIII
