I have found a few more that I’m unsure about. I'm thinking that #1, #9, and #10 are peripheral and that the rest are midgrade. Oh, and a question. Are all the circuit boards that have all the buttons on them always midgrade? Any help is appreciated.

Correct.
14 is midgrade.

The answer is no. The majority are midgrade but not all.

You were close enough it was easier to edit your post than make a whole new list.

Great job.

Thanks lostinlodos and Kaiser613. Wow! I was almost completely sure that all of these would be midgrade. But I’m just wondering why #8, #9, and #13 get graded as CD Rom boards and the rest (excluding #14), get peripheral. Why aren’t they all midgrade? Is it because they don’t really weigh anything or is it something else? Why is the board in the pictures below midgrade when these tiny little boards are graded so much higher? I just want to know so I’m able to grade more boards on my own. Oh, and #8, #9, and #13 came out of laptop floppy drives.

There's so many factors the add up to the current payout grades but suffice to say this board can't be peripheral because it's not eligible for precious metal recovery, the ics on the green side are but not the rest of the board, usually brown even on one side means less than peripheral but older logic boards (like those from floppy drives) didn't use solder mask (the green stuff) so that breaks the color rules, trust me it gets less confusing with time

10 is not a Cd board.

9 has a full size controller with integrated i/o processor.

8 is extremely borderline. I’m going just on my sole experience in borderline class hoppers. It’s where I would put it. But that happens to be a 50/50 shot board. I originally put peripheral, then changed it. I’m still debating it in my head.

There’s a lot that goes into a grade choice.
There are extremely basics that everyone can get on the first try. Like ram. And modern motherboards.
Others take some understanding. Such as dip CPU motherboards from the 70s/80s. Where do you split peripheral from motherboard from telco. Takes a bit of practice.

Some are purely experience or being told. Which is what the forum is for. Most people wouldn’t put track pad/touch pad boards in peripheral on their own. But that’s where they go.
I get stumped too and ultimately have to ask Chris at times when that happens. Such as figuring out this past few weeks where to class various SSDs.

My first few orders to Chris’s were all things most consumers wouldn’t even scrap let alone sort. Like an 800lb digital theatre organ I got broken for $10. They just wanted it gone. Found silver, some midgrade boards and nearly 100lbs of wire. Gold contact pads. Some peripheral. A bunch of pin board and wire wrap boards (which weren’t a class back then). Some nice heavy solid wood we used in the fireplace.

Classes are never totally solid. But they fit the 90-some-percent of shipments. There will always be exceptions. Floppy disk boards are a good example. They will start at peripheral despite most being brown.
Sub 2” hard drives, and old 5.25 inch ones, are another example of a class break. These have two boards. In the former case it will always be peripheral as it uses a totally separate controller board from the i/o board attached directly to the drive. In the later case one board is hard drive class and the other is peripheral or midgrade. But when was the last time you saw a 5.25” hard drive?

The final picture you posted. Is midgrade as it is a low value recovery. If you were to remove the ICs and sockets you’d have an ounce or so if IC chips and a tin plate connector that would probably not even be in the wire level of payout. And a relatively bare board Chris would likely recycle for free for you but not pay for.

Thanks for the help lostinlodes and Kaiser613. And sorry about #10. I meant to put #13 instead of 10.
