The Zeos workstations were x86 with a swappable boot Rom that allowed it to boot from a plug in card.
The workstations came outfitted with a 286 or 386 in the beginning but the plug in cards could be Motorola, MOS, etc.
Zeos also was known from somE strange, and awesomely kool, Portable systems.

Thanks for all that! I remember Zeos ads back in the early-mid 90s but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one. But back then I really only saw what PCs and laptops the Navy bought which was usually the cheapest junk machines.

So “green” boards... there is surely a physical reason for color categories. Given that, are old vintage dark green boards the same as newer lighter green?

I’ll post photos later today if you don’t know what I mean, but I’m sure you will know what I mean.

That’s a two part question.
Quickly addressing sorted colours, it is one place Chris and I disagree somewhat. He’s not at all wrong... it’s just the nature of the business.
Colourful motherboards are generally seen as inferior; most are. Unfortunately that catches some very high end gaming boards in the mix. It’s just the way it is.


The second part is itself a two part answer.
First and easiest is (2 parts again) colour and dye fade. And chemical separation.
The former, all dyes fade over time. The latter is notorious for collectors: and can easily be fixed. Place the item outside in direct sunlight on a DRY day. Watch the colours return to normal after a few days. No expensive dangerous chemicals needed. Very good for NES and Commodore cases.

The other aspect in play is the board material.
The oldest circuit boards were mostly or entirely wood. Quickly replaced with wood and plastic compositions to reduce fires. The plastic and chemicals designs vary and create different levels of light permeability and reflectivity. Green didn’t really catch on till the late 80s. I’ve seen old ibm systems with brown uncoloured motherboards.
Today the dye is left out only for cost cutting. It’s more for visual stimulation.
Making a brown board green screams “I’m better”. Where making a standard green board without the dye says you pushed a bit more by skimping on dyes. Some high end video cards are brown. Same with SSDs.

There’s more to dye than this (Electrical noise aspects, solder masking, oil resistance)
but that’s the most basic entry to it.

And I should have said I use the term “Vintage” here in a relative sense. Right now today, a P4 or dual core or quad core can be considered vintage if you need the latest and greatest horsepower. My use of vintage here refers to 1980s era stuff.

In my previous day job it meant anything no longer vendor supported for security updates.

So I’ll put all the shades of green together with maybe an 8086 board on top of a P4 board?

I only have a few that are any other color.

There’s really no reasoning from a consumer standpoint for colour variation in shades of green. It’s simply the amount of mask (on top) and dye (board colouring).
Much like bright green from Ford is different from light green from GM despite using the same two supply base colours.
I may be able to pinpoint something more specific from photos though.
