Removing the epoxy doesn’t make the chip a gold cap. It’s just a capless flat pack.

Yeah I didn't think removing cap would help. That one just came off with the heat sink.

Actually I am more grateful it won't make it better. I would never get another off. I just happy they are better than pref, I would probably just left the steel back on them and snuck a few in here or there with my steel.

One question, should or do I need to pull the fuses?

You should. They are glass and tend to break into sharp jagged tools.
