I cut that wire up and still think it is silver coated copper so I stripped a piece of tin coated copper to compare. The only reason is I have a about 100 lb of these and would like to get the most .the one with the red insulation on is tin coated for sure came from power supply.

It's usually nickel ir aluminium in my experience
Only time I've seen silver shielding externally is in mainframes/supercomputers.
If you snip both ends it should slide off giving you clean metal (whatever it is) and wire separated

I've seen silver plated copper in high end SCSI cables. But some audio equipment does also. But yeah lostinlodos is correct. It usually is nickel.

I have a lot of coax that looks very similar. Thousands of pounds. All of mine is double shielded silver plated. Very high yield stuff. I have sold it to radio/test guys for years now and it is sought after and worth some bucks if you have good lengths with or without connectors. It is a bit difficult to tell from the pictures exactly what you have and the number does not come up in a quick search but it quite likely it is silver. I see it every day. Those small coaxes all look like much alike but some that I see every day are RG-142 or RG-400. Both are double shield silver plated shield and center conductor with Teflon dielectric and there are dozens other variants I see on a daily basis. 95% of that cable that I see personally that look physically same or close is silver. If in doubt don't toss it. I look for that little bit of color change from the tarnish. Nickel /tin/solder does not exhibit that color shift after a bit of exposure.
