Have a good quantity of these that I can get and wanted to make sure I use my time wisely when taking them apart.

I assume the plastic top and bottom should be removed. The orange adapter labeled Null Modem should be too.

Then I would think both boards together or separate would clear peripheral but the smaller board, on its own, might sneak up to low telco???

Both are peripheral so leave them together.
Remove the port adaptor (null modem). It’s cable end
And yes. Plastic should go. But most grocery stores will take them in bag drop off if you tape it into a tube.
