i have about 5lbs of this from other items i scrapped. for me, part of the scrap equation is to keep stuff out of the landfill. my questions are:

1. can items A B C, be sent in as is, if so what class.
2. if i have to cut them up, is 4 considered wire.
3. if i have to cut them up, on A, do i do it like 1a or 1b and what class
4. any idea what kind of metal B and C are.

iknow its not much stuff and not high value, i just like to do the right thing and see things through. thanks for any input anyone can give.

well this is fairly forward. They're all likely tin coated nickel or tin (depends on yom).
the gold sections can be cut/sheared off fairly clean for clean gold pins.
the silver/grey parts are up to Chris as to "what" they go for but they will go. Likely as midgrade or peripheral. only because it's not something they normally deal with. And because 5 pounds isn't going to turn anyone's head yard wise.
the remaining wire is mixed wire.
how'd you get all three states?
A finished product
B not flashed yet but coated
C bare metal.

you're resolution is slightly too low to be sure (don't try, i need 7-8mpx, too large for the site) but based on C/3/1A it looks like tin coated nickel.

I could be wrong, standards are guides, not laws, in technology, but generally this design uses nickel pins with a thin tin brushing. and gold electroplated dipping. on the other hand i've come across these as junk steel from East European sources and China.

thanks for the reply. so i just keep them seperate, weigh them and send them in and let them quote it when they get it?

i was a bit surprised by the inconsistency myself. they came from player tracking panels. i had about 600 of them. they were installed 10-20 games at a time over a 1-20 year period on multiple manufacturers cabinets. no telling how many sources they originally came from.

Could just be they dumped the nickel as the price went up over the years.

Yep, throwing a small sorted bag or box in the shipment mix tends to be the best choice if your willing and to send it and we can’t figure it out online. (In regards to general electrical that they actually will take).
