I don't remove chips like this myself so I'm not certain but you're probably looking at the very bottom of the CPU category, the Flat Packs no gold tab.

Ok since Videogame boards count as peripherals I rather depopulate them and sell at local scrap, and accumulate them for boardsort, But I see some have metal shielding that its almost impossible to remove, those still count as Flat Packs no Gold Tabs?
thanks for your reply

Like I said, I don't remove soldered chips (don't remove socketed ICs either unless I have a good reason). Not worth my time given my specific situation (who buys escrap locally, what's worth shipping to Boardsort, etc.). So I am not certain where these go but I suspect they're bottom of the category. Hopefully ccussins or another member can give you further infomation.

Not sure I understand what you meant but if you're depopulating boards from gaming consoles you may be dropping those boards from high peripheral to low peripheral or even midgrade. Make sure whoever is buying those boards will still take them at the grade you're expecting before pulling too many chips off.

I believe what he is saying is that he would rather depopulate those types of boards, scrap out the bare boards for whatever he can get out of them, and then sell the components (i.e. eproms, tant compactors, cmcs, ect.) to Boardsort. This is just what I think he is saying anyways.

FYI, the current rate for high grade peripheral (most game console motherboards) is $2.75, and the rate for flat pack (no gold tab) is $2. Considering the cost of shipping, it is certainly better worth it to sell the game console boards without harvesting/depopulating them to boardsort.

Unless you are getting a higher rate than at your local yard even with the APU/CPU removed, but in this case, you are probably better off leaving the chips on and selling the boards whole to your local scrapyard.

Like marked141, I'm pretty sure that these will be Flat Pack no Gold Tab.
