(Continuation of previous posts)

And these are the ones I'm completely unsure of. A few of them have had the copper removed, which I think makes them Low grade or basically worthless?

For the boards in the first two images ("A") should I remove the plastic on the connectors (adds unnecessary weight?) or not?

If there's anything else that should be removed let me know too

Thank you all again!

Group A: (except for the 2 smaller boards) appear to be CD-rom boards which is in a class of its own. On these you don't remove the connectors. The 2 small ones (if you remove the metal on them) might make it as high as low telco.
Group B: If you remove the 2 big cylinder capacitors on the bottom one, all 3 would be low periph, and on a good day might even go as high periph.
Group C: These I'm a little fuzzy on. Without the gold fingers, I think they would be High periph, or they could go as small or metal socket green mother boards.
Group D: All except the one on the far right would be High periph. The one on the right, the way it sits, would be mid grade.

These are just my opinions, and I would wait for someone like Mark, lost, or ccussins to grade these for you.

You would be absolutely correct rdw1121, except if you read the caption, and his post, he plans to remove the fingers from this board. I have read a few other posts that he has made and it seems that he removes all of his gold fingers from his cards. When I first saw them I thought "ya GFC easy, but he has to be difficult"...lol

if they trim the gold fingers

it will be trimmed GFC and not worth it

Just an FYI:
In most cases if you are trimming gold fingers, gold pins, or pulling any thing socketed such as IC chips, flat packs, gold tab BGA's you are seriously down grading the board and loosing money.

I intended to send the trimmed GFC as well, it seemed to me that a trimmed gold finger by itself was worth more than a board with the finger attached. And if the board was worth anything without the finger, then so be it.
Am I wrong in that assumption?

I am just guessing here:

IF they weigh 1lb as clean gold finger card = $4.75

IF you trim them 1lb as trimmed GFC = $2.75
clean gold fingers just say 1/2 ounce = $1.25 (1/2 ounce is way more than the will weigh) that puts you a grand total of $4.00

you lost $0.75

Removing gold fingers almost always downgrades a board. And in the case of boards like RAM or GFCs that normally have the fingers, the downgrade isn't worth it. Boardsort has set their prices in a way that encourages keeping boards intact. Along with that, it's easier to identify a lot of boards when their components are all there, if they're not then the value of the board may be difficult to determine and result in a lower grade.

But there are exceptions and if you do business with other escrap buyers who pay better for certain materials then that's another consideration.
