Should these be removed? They are not the bulky transformer type but there is a lot of ferrous covering them. I fear it would drop the grade down if I left them. Reference my post in the What is it forum.

Thank you!

I don’t see anything needed to remove but I would suggest pulling the two socketed ICs out of D for separate classing.

That won’t lessen the grade?

A) high peripheral
B) high peripheral
C) high peripheral
D) high peripheral, with or without socketed ICs

As long as IC rate is higher than high telco rate (usually but not always is) removing socketed ICs is in your best interest.

As for capacitors, unless your dealing with stuff pre-mid 90s you generally leave them alone. Prior to that You’ll occasionally find big tall wide ones that are more than a half inch wide and 1-2 inches tall. Those can download board to low peripheral or worse. And you should post a photo and ask about them.

And outside of mainframes and industrial-scientists equipment you’re unlikely to find a choke, lock, coil, or impeder needing removing. Occasionally in some old AM/FM tuber amps.
The only other exception is loose ones threaded on wire. And since you’re “remov[ing] all wire” they fall off anyway. Right?!

Here are the two little bits of copper I was talking about.

Thanks again!
