Hello all, how should lower grade boards with gold fingers be classified? They are not gold finger card, would it be worthwhile to trim the fingers, and would the trimmed fingers qualify for the clean gold finger category?

I had a few PCBs like that. BUT. In my case. I only trimmed boards that were basically worthless. What I see in your pictures are some boards with a decent number of ICs. Others are just discrete components and no components. I would cut off the gold fingers from the worthless ones. Note: Low and Mid grade are "worthless" to me. Due to the fact I mail in my escrap. I can not justify postage cost to mail them. Having said that. What it is worth to you? Can't say. My personal experience with Boardsort was positive when I submitted gold fingers cut off of simliar PCBs. No problem. I got the Gold Finger rate. Yet those PCBs with some ICs. Might get a High Peripheral. And Low Peripheral. I agree. No way. Gold Finger Card.
Here to learn like everybody else.

That is helpful, thanks for the response. I have a lot of the ones with no IC's so those ones I will trim and leave the rest as is.

I'm not certain that I would classify some of these as lower grade. One of these was high tele until most of it's socketed chips were removed. Now low periperal probably. I get a lot of boards like this. If borderline for it's class I leave the fingers. If strongly in its class or really can't go lower I trim. If you watch the videos carefully you will see some high tele that have been obviously trimmed. Also, for the boards with no chips, be sure you cut off the connector ends as well, they add up fast and are worth shipping (at least to me) if you go 20 pounds cubic rate through pirate ship.

The two cards with practically nothing, remove the gold fingers and sell as low/mid.

All other boards will go from Low Per to Low Tel

As listed in the first picture (in view),

1. Remove gold fingers, low grade 2. High Per

3. Low Per, 4. High Per

5. Remove gold fingers and wires. Low grade 6. Either remove gold fingers and throw in Connector ends or throw entirely in Low Per

7. Might make High Per, def Low Per, Remove excess wires and that little gas sensor/speaker with the little wires. 8. Maybe Low Tel, def High Per
