Not sure if Boardsort is okay with the SIM card left in or not. They don't currently accept them on their own.

What's going on with the gold board that's screwed on? Antennae? Anything mounted to the other side if it?

Catwhisker,
I did take the gold thing off to look under it.
There were 2 shields. Steel. I did try to pry. Didn’t move easily.
I didn’t want to be “The Mangler” so I replaced it.

First of all. It was Marked141. That mentioned the gold thing. But. I am right there with him on that question. Wish I saw that. And yes. Ah yes. Stephen King. But. Stephen King isn't doing escrap. Being "The Mangler" fits perfectly when removing junk from circuit boards to clean them up and get a better grade. Or to avoid getting a downgrade. One must be "The Mangler" at times. In this case. Underneath that shielding could very well be some nice integrated circuits. Knowing that helps proper evaluation. Shielding overall is junk to be removed. Gold Fingered WIFI being an exception. Not being a mangler does make sense trying resell other than escrap. But even so. Feel welcome to join us manglers. Lets see what's under that steel.
Yes. Yes. Curiosity killed the cat. But. Lets not go there.

Sometimes if I can't find a spot to pry up on a shield I can use a pair of wire cutters to grab a corner and then pry from there.

Do be careful with stubborn shields (any shields really) I have cut myself more times than I care to admit on the edges of torn shields.

The cinterion card is a wireless com. Module. I dutifully mangled this morning, BEFORE COFFEE! You fellas were right. Lots of chips. Should I reattach upside down so the deliciousness is visible for boardsort employees? I have 10 +/- of these. Do the same for all of them?

Most Importantly, you’re new estimate of boardsort grade?

Thanks for your guidance, The Mangler

Interesting, that looks a lot like a chip I accidentally pulled off another board it was soldered to. Lostinlodos graded the chip high Telco and I'm guessing yours can go there too. Seems it's some kind of wifi card.

reference post

So, I'm not sold on the main board getting high Telco. It just doesn't seem to me like there's enough there (but I'm not great at the Telco grades so I may just be being extra cautious). I would probably lean toward peripheral myself with the possibility of low Telco. If you keep the gold backed wifi card on there the whole thing is probably at least low Telco.

So there's my thoughts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ for what is worth.

Sorry. I definately got confused when I said High Telecom on your board Elevator 1. I was shuffling quickly through your sucessive posts and not taking notes. Being lazy! Glad to see you took the shield off. That board/module is a type of WIFI extraordinaire. On its own. HighTelecom. I am terrible at doing searches on the site. But. In addition to what Marked141 posted. I remember seeing something also similar. Couldn't find it. Even though. That small module. High Telecom. Can't see it any other way. The Elevator 1 board with the module removed. High Peripheral. I do not see that inherit beefy gold contact edge connector or the high density IC population. As is inherit to Telecom grades. Now here is where stuff gets interesting. Leave the module on and go for Low Telecom. That might be a stretch. The best move here. Could be. Submit them separately. The module as High Telecom. The other as a definate shoe-in for High Peripheral. Or email Chris with the module attached. See if it goes Low Telecom? Also. You said attach the module facing up. Are you risking it coming loose during shipping or the sorting process? A real consideration. Also. I see you removed the SIM card. Considering all the cell phones Boardsort buys. And cell phone boards. I have not seen an instruction to remove SIM cards. I think leaving it. Is ok. But. I will admit. I collected about 50 SIM cards myself. Only place to sell. Ebay. And I am learning they are low yield. Not exactly desirable. But. Maybe collecting them could be fun. Make a dollar when you got a quanity worth listing. I have to echo what Marked141 said. These are my thoughts for what its worth.
