I had a small lot of these types of HDD boards. They all had the connector end familar to the Nonsata hardrive category. I have one with a little twist. See pictures. That is a 80 gold contact connector on the input end. It is a Seagate harddrive board. But it is not NonSata. It is an ASCI board. Yet. The communication method doesn't define the board value. We know that. It's just a convenient general guide to grade a harddrive board value. My pictured board alao shows 2 small double sided edge connectors. Also. J2 and J6 are gold contact. Note. J4 is not gold contact. Tants on board. Typical population of integrated circuits for NonSata HDD. I intend to submit the board as NonSata Hardrive. Any comments would be appreciated.

I do believe SATA is SATA and ASCI goes as high grade.

Correct, this is a high grade hard disk drive boards. As long as it isn't sata and is from a hdd it is most likely going to get that grade.

I mostly agree but…. The videos for the two say if it has pins it is high and if it has fingers it is low sata. I have a few just like that one and was confused so I watched both videos just the other day. I can’t tell which one it has. Everything on the board is way better than newer sata stuff. I will go with the two longterm posters that seem very sure they are non sata. Thanks

Marked141. Any tips on using the Boardsort Search. I get responses from the search engine so often that I use too many words. It gets so frustrating. You always come up with links so relevant to the posted topic.

I run into that too! Way more than I would like.

Searching by author helps me a bit but if I also use a keyword that hits the "too many results" limit on its own, by author doesn't mitigate it. Which is frustrating cause I can search author "Lostinlodos" and get 10k+ results but specific words within that are just like, nope! that's too hard.

I've been here long enough that I remember specific statements or I've picked up on words that might get me what I want.
For instance I just recently was searching "mercury", which hits the limit, but "relay" doesn't (or didn't...). I also remembered Lost had talked about drilling out the mounting pins of those from the board, so I searched "drill" also. I thought he had detailed that process more so I'm not sure I actually found what I wanted.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ok. Marked141. I understand. Knowledge built upon experience. When I started getting such difficulties. I figured. Surely got to be a better way. Maybe Boardsort will update the Search engine someday. But it is good. A search can even be done.

Unfortunately I am sitting on about 15 pounds of SCSI hard drive boards (1985-2005) that are way too populated and think
they are more valuable than offered here as non SATA.
Perhaps a third grade ?
Carry On ..
